Once you get Arkansas Medicaid coverage, follow these 5 steps to make the most of it right away:
1. Read Your Medicaid Approval Letter
✅ Check your coverage start date and eligibility category (e.g., ARKids First, ARHOME, etc.)
✅ Make sure all information is correct—if something is wrong, update it by visiting Access.Arkansas.gov or calling 1-855-372-1084.
2. Pick a Primary Care Provider (PCP)
✅ Find a doctor who accepts Arkansas Medicaid for regular care. This will be your main doctor for wellness check-ups and care.
✅ Use the Arkansas Medicaid Provider Directory or call ConnectCare at 1-800-275-1131 for help.
3. Get Your Medicaid ID Card
✅ Your Medicaid card should come in the mail. If you don’t get it within two weeks, call Arkansas Medicaid at 1-800-482-8988.
✅ Keep your card safe and bring it to all medical appointments.
4. Schedule Important Wellness Check-Ups
✅ Make an appointment with your PCP for a check-up to start getting care.
✅ Schedule:
- Children’s wellness check-ups & vaccines (for ARKids First)
- Prenatal care (if pregnant)
- Yearly physicals & preventive screenings
5. Learn What’s Covered & Use Your Benefits
✅ Know what’s covered, including doctor visits, prescriptions, mental health services, and emergency care. Learn more.
✅ Use non-emergency transportation to get a ride to your appointment. Call 1-888-987-1200 to schedule.
✅ Fill prescriptions at a Medicaid-approved pharmacy (call 1-800-424-7895 for help).
✅ If you have coverage through the ARHOME category, pick the insurance plan that Medicaid will pay for, or we will pick it for you. Access the Arkansas Medicaid Member Portal.
