The Pregnancy Risk Assessments Monitoring Systems (PRAMS) survey was launched in 1987 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) because of the rate of infant mortality and the rising numbers of low birth weights. The participating health departments and the CDC collect state-specific, population-based data on maternal attitudes and experiences prior to, during, and immediately following pregnancy. AFMC’s prenatal care survey addresses prenatal care, delivery, and post-delivery care, including well-baby check-ups.
