Quality Improvement Awards

AFMC honors excellence in health care

Quality Improvement Awards presented to 28 facilities

Last year AFMC honored 28 health care facilities with Quality Improvement Awards for their commitment to excellence in health care. The awards were presented during AFMC’s 11th Quality Conference, held April 30 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Little Rock.

Home Health Quality Achievement Award

The Home Health Quality Achievement Award is given to home health agencies whose patients improve in areas such as “pain interfering with activities” and “improvement in status of surgical wounds.” White County Medical Center Home Health in Searcy won this award.

Hospital Quality Achievement Award

The Hospital Quality Achievement Award is given to hospitals that improve in one or more of AFMC’s hospital quality improvement project areas: heart attack, heart failure, inpatient pneumonia or surgical infection prevention. Hospital winners are divided into two categories based on their level of improvement.

Platinum winners are:

Sparks Regional Medical Center – Fort Smith

White County Medical Center – Searcy

St. Vincent Health System – Little Rock

Baptist Memorial Hospital – Osceola

Crawford Memorial Hospital – Van Buren

Gold winners are:

Lawrence Memorial Hospital – Walnut Ridge

Ozark Health Medical Center – Clinton

Conway Regional Health System – Conway

Arkansas Methodist Medical Center – Paragould

Baptist Health Medical Center – Heber Springs

St. Edward Mercy Medical Center – Fort Smith

Baptist Health Medical Center – Little Rock

Hospital Quality Measurement Award

The Hospital Quality Measurement Award is given to hospitals that collect and submit data on AFMC’s inpatient quality improvement projects. Winners are divided into two categories based on the amount of data they collect.

Platinum winners are:

White County Medical Center – Searcy

Lawrence Memorial Hospital – Walnut Ridge

Ozark Health Medical Center – Clinton

Conway Regional Health System – Conway

Community Medical Center of Izard County – Calico Rock

St. Vincent Health System – Little Rock

St. Anthony’s Healthcare Center – Morrilton

Howard Memorial Hospital – Nashville

St. Edward Mercy Medical Center – Fort Smith

Drew Memorial Hospital – Monticello

Jefferson Regional Medical Center – Pine Bluff

CrossRidge Community Hospital – Wynne

Gold winners are:

Baxter County Medical Center – Mountain Home

Arkansas Methodist Medical Center – Paragould

Baptist Health Medical Center – Heber Springs

Baptist Memorial Hospital – Osceola

Nursing Home Quality Achievement Award

The Nursing Home Quality Achievement Award is given to nursing homes that improve in pressure ulcer prevention and treatment, restraint use, or chronic and/or acute pain management. Rector Healthcare in Rector received this award for improving in pressure ulcer prevention and treatment.

Outpatient Quality Achievement Award

The Outpatient Quality Achievement Award is given to physician offices that improve in two or more indicators in an AFMC outpatient quality improvement project: adult immunization, antibiotic resistance, asthma, breast cancer prevention, chlamydia, diabetes, prenatal care or well child screening. Mercy Diabetes Center in Hot Springs received this award.

Innovator Award

Physician offices, nursing homes, hospitals or home health agencies that share innovative and successful strategies and act as mentors are eligible to receive special recognition for innovation in quality improvement.
