AFMC Involved
AFMC proudly supports community service activities and programs across the state. Each year, we commit our time and energy to various worthy causes.
Race for the Cure
Since 2000, AFMC has sponsored and participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure to help raise funds to fight breast cancer and save lives.
Public Health Week
Each year, AFMC joins health care organizations from across Arkansas to celebrate Public Health Week. Partners include the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences’ College of Public Health, the Arkansas Department of Health, the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement and the Arkansas Public Health Association.
Summer Cereal Drive
Each year, AFMC participates in the KTHV Summer Cereal Drive by donating money or cereal to the Arkansas Foodbank Network. The drive provides breakfast for children whose families are unable to afford three meals a day during the summer months. Many of these children receive free or reduced price school breakfasts during the school year.
Arkansas Fitness Challenge
Since 2006, AFMC staff members have participated in the Arkansas Fitness Challenge, a contest to help Arkansans improve their health by logging time for completed hours of exercise. The event is held each spring and includes large and small groups such as banks, businesses, churches, schools, government agencies, hospitals and other health care groups. Participating organizations hold internal contests or challenge other groups in their community.
Habitat for Humanity
AFMC was named the recipient of the Arkansas Valley Habitat for Humanity's "Who Ya Gonna Call" Award for always being on call when volunteers were needed to help at the Habitat for Humanity Women Build home.
Stuff the Sleigh
In December 2006, AFMC helped "stuff the sleigh" for Arkansas foster children, donating more than $800 worth of toys to the Stuff the Sleigh organization. AFMC collected enough money to purchase 52 toys, including six bicycles.
Ronald McDonald House
In 2006, AFMC employees served dinner for guests at the Little Rock Ronald McDonald House. The facility is a "home away from home" for families of children at Arkansas Children's Hospital, and for some adults who receive outpatient cancer treatments at the Arkansas Cancer Research Center or Central Arkansas Radiation Therapy Institute.
Women and Children First
In fall 2006, AFMC sponsored a school supply donation campaign for Women and Children First, a local shelter for battered women and their children. In addition to creating promotional materials for the campaign, AFMC collected $300 and 12 boxes of school supplies.
